Diwali special Facts
Diwali is a Hindu festival of
lights celebrated every year in autumn. Diwali is one of the festivals in the
world which is most popular festivals of Hinduism. The festival preparations
and rituals extend over a 5-day period. The festival falls between middle of
October and middle of November. Its celebration includes millions of lights shining
on housetops, outside doors and windows, around temple etc. We all love to celebrate this. On this day, we
decorate our houses with different lights and candles and Diyas. We all excite
for this day. Before Diwali, people clean, renovate, decorate their houses and
offices. On Diwali evening, people dress up in new clothes, light up Diyas. People
Participate in Laxmi puja, enjoy family feats, light fireworks, and share gifts
or sweets. This festival also makes bonding between families and neighbours.
The origin of Diwali is Indian
Subcontinent and also is mentioned in early Sanskrit texts. The celebration
comes after 18 days of Dussehra. Some Hindu communities mark the last day as
the Bhai Dooj dedicated too the bond between brother and sister.
Diwali marks the Hindu New Year
and also considered to be a lucky day to begin new things. It is a national
holiday in India, Nepal, Myanmar, Singapore, Surinam, Malaysia, Trinidad &
Tobago, Sri Lanka, Fiji. Goddess Laxmi is generally is worshiped on this day.
The festival also marks the return of the Lord Rama and Sita after completing
14 years in exile. Diwali is considered as the “FESTIVAL OF LIGHT”. It
signifies the victory of good or evil, light over darkness and knowledge over
ignorance. It is considered that gambling during Diwali brings good luck and
prosperity in the year ahead. The customary greeting associated with Diwali is “Shubh
Deepawali”. People do a lot of shopping
before Diwali. Buying new things during this festival is considered to be good.
Diwali marks as the end of the harvest season for farmers. They thank the God for
harvests and pray for a prosperous harvesting season in upcoming year. On
Diwali we distribute sweets among family, relatives and also with the
neighbours.

community, Release of Guru Hargobind Sahibji and 52 captives of Shah Jahan and
also Foundation of Golden temple.

India, Marriage of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi.
