We all love to travel. In our daily life we try to find some time to travel. Here I’m giving you list of 10 places to visit near Rishikesh.  Rishikesh is one of the most popular tourist hotspots. Many grand temples and adventurous spots attract us. It’s the place of adventure activities like bungee jumping, mountain biking, water rafting etc. It differs from season to season.

1. SHIVPURI:

 Shivpuri is one of the finest places to visit near Rishikesh. It’s 19 km away from Rishikesh. It is located on the banks of Ganges River. It is in the Shivpuri district in Madhyapradesh. Shivpuri is known as Sipri in earlier days. Shivpuri means ‘City of Lord Shiva’. Shivpuri is a historic town. It has many ancient monuments.

Madhav national park:  Madhav National Park is full of various Fauna like Chital, Pond heron, purple sunbird, Nilgai etc.

Chhatri: Chhatri is one of the most famous monuments. It is the mix of Mughal and Hindu culture. Every evening there is a music presentation occurred which is a part of prayer.

Karera Bird Sanctuary: In Karera Bird Sanctuary there is around 245 different bird species.
Sakhya Sagar Lake: It is located near to Madhav National park. It is built in 1920. It is a home to many reptiles.

To visit Shivpuri, the best time is between November to March.

2. LAKSHMAN JHULA:

  Lakshman Jhula is one of the famous places in India. It is located in Rishikesh city. This bridge was built by U.P.P.W.D. The bridge was made up of jute threads. The bridge is 137 metres in length and 21 metres in height. Local people said that the name of the bridge came from LAKSHMANA. The old one was washed away in flood in the year 1924.It is also called as Ramjhula as it was named as Ramayana. Now we can see the steal construction of the bridge. This bridge connects Tehri and Pauri districts. Lakshman Jhula is 8 kms north of Rishikesh. There is no fee to cross the bridge. Lakshman Jhula was built in 1939. It is one of the leading landmarks to visit near Rishikesh. It is a suspension bridge in Uttarakhand. So whenever you visit Rishikesh you should visit here.



3.GEETA BHAWAN:

 Geeta bhawan is located on the banks of river Ganga in Swargashram in the city of Indore. It is known as Guru Shri Ram Sukh Daasji. This place is 3 kms away from the Rishikesh railway station.  It is a residential area in Indore. This place attracts tourists so much. So you should visit here.


4. WHITE WATER RAFTING:

 This adventure can be enjoyed in any season except monsoon season. It remains closed during this time. Rafting of Rishikesh costs from Rs 450 to Rs 1600 per person. These costs depend on the level of adventure. Things to carry in this adventure are a pair of clothes, towels and shoes. There are 5 types of grades in the river. In Grade1, there is no obstacle in the path having small waves. Grade2 is tougher than the Grade1. In Grade2 the path is having moderate difficulty with clear passages. Grade3 is difficult having high irregular waves. Grade4 is little bit tough. It is much difficult to cross. Having powerful waves. Grade5 is extremely powerful, difficult, and violent. It is highly congested. If you want to go and enjoy this you have to hire an expert. It is a safe adventurous trip. The best time to visit here is from late September to mid November. Rafting is believed to be thrilling, but certain risk is involved in it. Knowing how to swim is an advantage, but non-swimmers can also enjoy it. 5.TRIVENI GHAT:

 Triveni ghat is situated in Rishikesh. It is a famous ghat which is situated on the bank of river Ganga. It is believed that lord Krishna visited there. This sacred ghat is used for bath for many people. The evening aarati of Ganges also attract tourist. It is one of the holy places in India. Triveni ghat has a market. Many precious gems are available here. Clothes, Puja CD and DVDs also available there. Religious books, religious bangles, sweets, painted idols, statues also available here. This ghat always remains overcrowded. The aarati of GANGA is named as “MAHA AARATI”. Boat ride is also included in the short trip to Triveni Ghat. 6. KUARI PASS: 

 Kuari pass trek is one of the best places to visit near Rishikesh. Rishikesh is the base of it. Kuari pass is the place from where we can see the Himalaya in jumbo size view. Trekkers can experience the view of Himalayan landscape. It is an opportunity to travel Himalayan region. Winter treks gaining popularity now-a-days. In winter season, even if it is slippery and hard to walk but it’s give you a wonderful experience to enjoy the nature. So whenever you visit Rishikesh you should visit here.



7. OMKARANADA ASHRAM:

 Omkarananda is a beautiful guest house at Rishikesh. It is located at the bank of river Ganga. Yoga workshops are conducted daily from Monday till Saturday. It’s mainly popular for its architectural beauty. The current chief of the ashram is Swami Vishveshwarananda Saraswati. So whenever you visit Rishikesh you should visit here.



8.NEELKANTH MAHADEV TEMPLE: 

 This is one of the finest places to visit near Rishikesh. Neelkanth Mahadev temple is famous for mythology, history, photography, nature and its architecture. Visiting duration is 30 minutes to 1 hour. No fee is required to entry. You can offer prayer to Lord Shiva and also can enjoy the architecture of this temple. You can read or listen to the myths that are in the temple. After you have visited the temple you can visit the local shops to take some mythological goods. The temple is open throughout the year. This temple is located at 32 kms away from Rishikesh bus terminal. According to mythology, Lord Shiva has consumed poison after Samudra Manthan that made him with a blue throat. This story is highlighted on the wall of this temple. There is a holy peepal tree in the premises of this temple.

Nearby attractions of this temple are Ram jhula, laxman jhula, Rajaji National Park, Triveni Ghat, Gita Bhavan, Laxman Temple. Neelkanth Temple is one of the famous temple of Lord Shiva. So whenever you visit Rishikesh you should visit here.




9.BUNGEE JUMPING:

 Bungee jumping is an activity that involves jumping from a tall place. Things to carry Sunscreen, Comfortable clothes and footwear, sunglasses, first aid. People having heart problems, high blood pressure, back ache arte strictly saying to avoid this. You have that guts to jump from high cliff.  Bungee jumping is legal in India.  18 years old is the minimum age to participate in this act. On the day of bungee jumping you should eat light meal, otherwise it causes vomiting or you will faint. In bungee jumping you can wear t-shirts and pants. In Rishikesh, the total height is 83 metres. Weight of them between 40 kg to 110 kg. Bungee jumping in Rishikesh is the highest height in India. Rate for per person is 3550/-. There are 3 types of combo in bungee jumping. Combo1 is bungee jumping + flying fox. Combo2 is flying fox+ Giant swing. Combo3 is bungee jumping + giant jumping + flying fox. Final one is Thriology Combo: Bungee jumping + giant jumping +flying fox. Cost for combo1 is 4750/- per person. Cost for combo2 is 4750 per person. Cost for combo3 is 6500/-. And the final one is 8250/-.Cameras are strictly prohibited in this area. Flying fox height is 120 metres. Tuesday remain closed. No other bungee jumping can beat the bungee jumping in Rishikesh. So whenever you visit Rishikesh you should visit here.



10.HARIDWAR:

Haridwar is one of the holiest cities in India. It is an ancient city. Haridwar is located on the banks of River Ganga in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. Haridwar is a famous Hindu temple town. It’s believed that taking a bath in Ganges can decrease your sin. Separately from religious angle, this is also famous from cultural view. If you ever visit there then must try some foods like Kachories from KASHYAP KACHOPRIWALA and aloo puri from MOHANJI PURIWALE. Haridwar is also famous for the kumbh mela. Most of the Haridwar temples are dedicated to either Vishnu or Shiva. Hari means God and Dwar means Gate. The most sacred ghat here is Brahmakund. It is a part of holy rituals.  This ghat always remains overcrowded. Boat ride is also included in this short trip to Haridwar.  It is the biggest and most famous ghat in India. So you should visit here at least one of your lifetimes.
