HOW BRAIN SENSES AN ITCH

Scientist have discovered how neurons in the spinal cord help send itch signals to brain. The itch is different from other forms of touch and it has a specialized pathway in the spinal cord. The findings could help us to understand itch and could lead to new drugs to treat chronic itch.


NEW PAIN RELIEVERS

Scientist have discovered that scorpion toxin that targets 'wasabi receptor'. It is embedded in sensory nerve endings throughout the body. The toxin steeds a pain response. Scientist think it can be used as tool for studying chronic pain and stimulation, and lead to the development of new kinds of non-opined relievers.


HOW MEMORIES FORM

Using mouse models, Cal-tech researchers have found that strong, stable memories are encoded by neurons. It helps to understand how memory might be affected after brain damage.


OLDEST PARASITE DNA

The oldest parasite DNA recorded has been found in ancient. Radiocarbon dating revealed that the coprolite and parasitic roundworm eggs preserved inside dated back to between 16570 and 17000 years ago, towards the end of the last Ice Age.


STORMS ON JUPITER

Astronomers study the evolution of bright plumes and connect them with cloud movements deep in the planet. The plumes create disturbances in the belts and change their color.
